Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good HRV for athletes?

A good HRV is the one that is normal for you, not someone else. HRV varies widely by age, genetics, training history, and device method, so the most useful benchmark is your own baseline and trend direction.

Why does HRV drop after hard training?

HRV often drops after hard training because your nervous system is carrying more stress and recovery demand. That drop is not automatically bad, but a sustained decline over several days can mean your body is not absorbing training well.

Should I compare my HRV to other athletes?

No. Cross-person HRV comparisons are usually misleading because the metric is highly individual and device methods differ. Compare today’s HRV to your own recent baseline instead.
